Subject: JOB DESCRIPTIONS

I. POLICY

The standard State Job Titles are used for all classified employees. Unclassified employees work under job titles established by the UAMS Human Resources Department. All job descriptions for classified and for unclassified personnel are written within the department and the state descriptions are used only for reference. Job descriptions are made available to all employees and a copy is kept in their personnel record.

II. Job titles and job definitions used in the Hospital Pharmacy are:

A. Director - Unclassified

Manages the Pharmacy department both In-Patient and OPC.

B. Asst. Director - Unclassified

Coordinates supply area, maintenance of all hardware/software and special projects. Acts for the director in his absence.

C. Pharmacy Specialist - Unclassified

This individual has a broad background in a specific clinical or management area and provides expertise not routinely available to pharmacy staff.

D. Pharmacist III - Unclassified

Individuals in this position are in supervisory roles.

E. Pharmacist II - Unclassified

Individuals in this position are the more experienced professionals on staff and are expected to demonstrate leadership among the staff.

F. Pharmacist I - Unclassified

Individuals in these positions are the staff pharmacists who perform the majority of routine dispensing and other professional duties.

G. Pharmacy Technician  - Unclassified

Technicians work under the supervision of the pharmacists and are directly associated with the patient care aspects of the pharmacy - dispensing, IV additives - as well as supply, packaging and quality control functions..

   Clinical Technician I - requires a high school diploma and satisfactory completion of on-the job training.

   Clinical Technician II - must have national certification (CPHT) and UAMS IV Certification.

    Clinical Technician III- must be a CPhT for 1-2 years and have 1-2 years of supervisory experience. This is a supervisory position and is limited in number of positions.

 J. Project Program Manager

    This person handles all SAP issues, all ApplicationXtender issues, and personnel record keeping and Kronos issues for all four pharmacy areas; inpatient, OPC, ACRC, and research.

K. Students - Unclassified

Perform dispensing functions under the direction of a pharmacist
