IV PUSH MEDICATIONS FOR CRITICAL CARE AREAS

Critical Care units include SICU, MICU, CVICU, PACU, ER, 5D-ICN, and NICU. Registered nurses on these units may give additional medication as listed below while working within these units under the following conditions.

1.         The drug is part of a standard treatment protocol for that unit which has been approved by the Medical Board, and is covered by an order signed by the physician.

2.         The nurse has passed credentialing procedures for use and administration of the drug.

3.         Nurses who normally practice in one of the critical care units may NOT use these drugs routinely on other units where these drugs are not approved for nurse administration by I.V. Push.
