Zoledronate

 Zoledronate (Zometa®)

It is considered appropriate to use zoledronate (Zometa®) in the following conditions:

1.    As first line agent in the treatment of osteolytic lesions caused by malignancies other than breast cancer or multiple myeloma in the outpatient setting.

2.    In patients who have a therapeutic or a financial hardship reason to require a rapid infusion time in the outpatient setting.

It is considered inappropriate to use zoledronate (Zometa®) in the following conditions:

1.    In an inpatient setting.

2.    As first line agent in the treatment and/or prevention of bone metastases in breast cancer and multiple myeloma, hypercalcemia of malignancy, and Paget’s disease.

3.    In the treatment and/or prevention of osteoporosis.
