Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to prepare students to enter the practice of pharmacy after completing licensure requirements. The didactic and experiential portions of the curriculum are integrated in such a way as to develop fundamental knowledge while being introduced to the practice through strategically placed introductory pharmacy practice experiences. The acquisition and application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become a pharmacist occurs throughout the curriculum. The College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in accordance with 2016 Standards.

The College of Pharmacy adheres to the Arkansas Department of Higher Education’s (ADHE) minimum requirements for credit hour production as defined.

Specifically, the College of Pharmacy follows these guidelines, which meet or exceed ADHE standards, when assigning credit hour designations to courses (not accounting for finals week):

  • General Coursework: 15 contact hours = 1 credit hour
  • Labs/recitation: 2 contact hours per week = 1 credit hour
  • Experiential coursework: 40 contact hours = 1 credit hour
