Mission
The Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmSci) Graduate Program at the UAMS College of Pharmacy is committed to training future leaders and innovators in the global fight against disease through world-class education and groundbreaking research in drug discovery, radiation health, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, biologics and natural product science. Our mission is to empower passionate graduate students with the skills, knowledge, and collaborative spirit needed to transform scientific breakthroughs into life-saving therapeutics and impactful healthcare solutions.
As part of a truly interdisciplinary and globally connected program, our students work closely with nationally and internationally recognized faculty engaged in high-impact research—from uncovering molecular mechanisms of disease to advancing the next generation of therapeutics targeting cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and beyond. With strong ties to the UAMS Clinical Enterprise, Translational Research Institute, BioVentures, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and NCTR, our trainees gain access to exceptional resources and real-world translational opportunities.
Designed in collaboration with the UAMS Graduate School, the PharmSci track offers flexible MS, PhD, and PharmD/PhD pathways that combine a rigorous curriculum with immersive research experiences tailored to each student’s goals. We take pride in our close-knit, mentor-driven training environment, where students form lasting partnerships with faculty and peers. Our alumni have gone on to lead successful careers in academia, the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, and federal research agencies, both in the U.S. and internationally. Whether you’re from Arkansas or anywhere in the world, if you are driven by curiosity, committed to scientific excellence, and ready to make a difference in human health—your journey in pharmaceutical innovation starts here.
