NEO Courses for Pharmacy Students

The Nuclear Education Online Training Program is designed to fit your busy schedule. As a Nuclear Education Online student, you can access your courses using an Internet connection, anytime, anywhere, and you can begin your courses at any time. This flexibility combined with our support services and online resources will help you meet your career development goals.

The NEO program has several options for pharmacy students to gain education and experience in the field of nuclear pharmacy practice.

1.  Introduction to Nuclear Pharmacy – online elective course 2 credit hours

2.  Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist Training

Pharmacy students can take the Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist didactic training (200 hours) at a discounted rate of $4000.  This training should be completed prior to graduation from pharmacy school to obtain the pharmacy student rate.

There is a 15 hour hands-on lab portion of this training that can be obtained in any nuclear pharmacy, including an institutional setting.  This is part of the “lab workbook” and may be signed off by any nuclear pharmacist to complete the 200 hour training.

Note that the NEO coursework does NOT fill the 500 hours of experiential training required by the NRC for an authorized nuclear pharmacist.  This cannot be completed online.  Pharmacy students may opt to obtain precepted experiential hours counting toward their 500 hours during internships, rotations or following employment by a nuclear pharmacy company.  The 500 experiential hours are outside of the NEO coursework.  The student is responsible for obtaining experiential hours needed to be added to a radioactive materials license.

Use the Pharmacist/Pharmacy Student / Technician enrollment form to register by emailing the form to Brigette Serfaty at bserfaty@uams.edu.

Note:  Tuition is due upon course completion and prior to issuance of the certificate.

Please contact Brigette Serfaty at bserfaty@uams.edu or call 501-686-6398 for detailed information.
