Student performance on Summative Exam 1 (SE1) and Summative Exam 2 (SE2) is listed above by UAMS COP Competency Statement. SE1 is administered at the end of the second professional year and contains questions on scientific foundations from P1 and P2 course work. SE2 uses 10 Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) cases along with the NAPLEX-Advantage exam. Average scores on both exams show achievement of individual competency statements and demonstrate our varied assessment of skills achieved in our program. Additionally, SE1 scores serve as the baseline comparison between campuses; there were no differences in performance on SE2 based on campus assignment showing consistency between campuses.

Student achievement of competencies during experiential rotations is assessed longitudinally using a Proficiency Scale (0 – though opportunities existed, student did not engage in requirement; 1 – does not meet requirement even with prompting & intervention from the preceptor; 2 – meets requirement with extensive prompting & intervention from the preceptor; 3 – meets requirement with moderate prompting & intervention from the preceptor; 4 – meets requirement with minimal prompting & intervention from the preceptor; 5 – meets requirement at a level beyond that expected for a new graduate). The goal for APPEs is 4, which is well-achieved in every competency.
