LITTLE ROCK – Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) have shown for the first time that boosting a protein pathway in the body’s circulatory system can act as protection against potentially fatal radiation poisoning.

Across the table, Jared Dietz, a senior from Searcy, was heating a beaker of shea butter and aloe vera body lotion he’d already fragranced with Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren.
LITTLE ROCK – Steve Bryant, owner of Bryant’s Pharmacy and Health Care Center in Batesville, received the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy Dean’s Award for Service to the College during the Senior Honors Convocation on May 18.
Bryant received the award, given to a pharmacist, for giving his time, talent and resources to benefit and advance the UAMS College of Pharmacy and for his example of professionalism to students.
LITTLE ROCK – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) awarded certificates and degrees today to 906 graduates of its five colleges and graduate school during its commencement ceremony at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock.
Diplomas were presented to 129 in the College of Medicine; 263 in the College of Nursing; 112 in the College of Pharmacy; 44 in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health; 85 in the Graduate School and 273 from the 21 academic programs that make up the College of Health Related Professions.
LITTLE ROCK – Stephanie F. Gardner, Pharm.D., Ed.D., dean of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy, has been named an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow for academic year 2012-13.
The prestigious ACE Fellows Program, established in 1965, is designed to strengthen institutions and leadership in American higher education by identifying and preparing promising senior faculty and administrators for responsible positions in college and university administration.
LITTLE ROCK – The Dean’s Award for Lifetime Achievement from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy was given to J. Aubrey Waddell, Pharm.D., professor of clinical pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.
The award for long and consistent achievement in the profession of pharmacy was presented during the Senior Honors Convocation on May 18.
LITTLE ROCK – Scott Warmack, Pharm.D., recently was appointed associate dean in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Northwest.
Formerly an associate professor of pharmacy practice at UAMS and a clinical pharmacist at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Warmack leads the pharmacy program at the regional campus in Fayetteville, which welcomed its first group of third-year pharmacy students this fall.
