Tips for your Apartment Search
- See the apartment unit that you will be renting (not an example unit) before signing. Check for any prior damages/faults. EX: Ceiling fans, lights, outlets, and any maintenance problems.
- Utilities like electricity, water, and wi-fi can be included in your rent. Depending on the lease, you may be responsible for setting those up yourself.
- Apartments might have move-in specials, limited-time discounts, or other considerations for students.

Complexes that only one or two students mentioned, but have good ratings.
- Chenal Pointe at the Divide: Pet-friendly and offers short-term leases
- The Parc at Maumelle: Safe, quiet, and inexpensive, but there’s a long commute

Main Factors
The most important things you need to look at while house/apartment hunting.
- Location: Make sure you do your research and visit the area you will be moving to before you commit
- Timing: Many students graduate from UAMS and the U of A in late April and early May. This is when many residences will become available, and it is the best time to start looking.
- Don’t settle: House/apartment hunting can be stressful. If you don’t find something right away, don’t give up!
Other Aspects to Consider
- If leasing from a person or a leasing company, look up reviews for them online. Some landlords have excellent reviews. Others…not so much.
- Check your lease agreement carefully before signing. Pay special attention to sections on maintenance and payment. Look for things that are required by the renter, like renters’ insurance, lawn maintenance, etc.
- Take into consideration the internet speed and available internet providers in the area before committing.
