Teaching Responsibilities
Lecturer for the Pharmacy Practice PHPR 7373 PBL Specialty Pharmacy Services Elective
- This elective is an introduction to the practice of Specialty Pharmacy and Specialty Pharmacy Services. The main emphasis for this course is lecture, exploration, and problem-based learning into appropriate interventions for assessment, management, counseling, and benefits investigation in regards to specialty medications. This course will explore Specialty Pharmacy as a whole; including (but not limited to) accreditation and its impact as a vital part of specialty service, limited distribution drug (LDD) channels and manufacturer requirements to secure LDD, community vs. health system specialty services, different types of Specialty Pharmacy positions (e.g. manager, compliance officer, staff pharmacist, clinical pharmacy specialist), and Specialty Pharmacy Disease states (solid organ transplant, allergy/immunology, hepatitis, IBD, cystic fibrosis, oncology, multiple sclerosis, and infectious disease).
