Practice Transformation in the Curriculum

The College of Pharmacy is redesigning the classroom for more hands-on learning. What hasn't changed: students still need Arkansas pharmacists to mentor them into practice.

Practice Transformation

Key Improvements

– Active learning: goal of 40% active learning
– Open-ended exam questions: goal of 30% exam questions non-multiple choice
– Individualized student feedback in the didactic curriculum: 100% of the courses
– Teaching Assistant Program: Student Pharmacists, Graduate Students, Residents, etc.
– Implementation science (SAS Series) and Practice Expansion and Evaluation Project (PEEP)

Practice Transformation Project

Curriculum 2029 provides early exposure to pharmacy practice and foundational knowledge in building a successful pharmacy career. Practice Expansion and Evaluation Project (PEEP) empowers students to create a practice advancement project to assist their site while getting hand-on experience.

PEEP

Legacy to Curriculum 2029

The new curriculum creates a more integrated and streamlined learning experience by combining related foundational sciences and pharmacy concepts into cohesive course series. It also places greater emphasis on personalized medicine, drug action and therapeutics, and the social and administrative aspects of pharmacy practice, better preparing students to apply their knowledge in diverse professional settings.
